Description

Join us for WIBA Monthly Luncheon, we will be networking with other businesses, enjoy a buffet lunch and hear from Abel Frederic.

Frederic serves as the Vice President of Community Impact for United Way of the Plains. He joined the organization in June 2021, where he currently oversees a staff of 21 people who are committed to helping the people of south central Kansas live up to their full potential. His team focuses on meeting our community’s most critical needs and strengthening the building blocks for a good quality of life and a stronger community: health, education, financial stability and basic needs. Frederic leads their innovative approach to providing direct services like the Giving Items of Value (GIV) Warehouse, which recently earned national recognition for saving area nonprofits $2.6 million through donations secured from area businesses. Since his addition to the United Way team, he has also led the efforts to provide more grant opportunities for area nonprofits through creative funding initiatives like Impact on the Plains (a Shark Tank style social innovation competition in pursuit of bold solutions to community issues) and Promise on the Plains (a program to help nonprofits close gaps and disparities in the Black, Indigenous and People of Color or BIPOC community).

A graduate of Ottawa University, he earned his law degree from Charlotte School of Law in North Carolina. Frederic has spent his career helping others by utilizing his management experience and fundraising skills at nonprofit organization in Kansas, including United Way of Greater Topeka, St. Francis Health, Kansas State University and Envision. His contributions have been recognized with an alumni award from Ottawa University and he was selected for participation in Leadership Greater Topeka, Leadership Manhattan and Advance Kansas. This year he was recognized as a Wichita 40 Under 40 by the Wichita Business Journal this year and will complete the requirements for Leadership Kansas Class. He is also a graduate of Advance Kansas.
