Our WIBA luncheon is a great time to network with other like-minded business leaders, enjoy a buffet lunch and hear from local speakers. This month we will be hearing from Sheriff Easter.
Sheriff Jeff Easter is a Kansas native. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Leadership and Management from Friends University. He joined the Wichita Police Department in 1989, serving as an officer, detective, sergeant, Gang/Felony Assault Lieutenant and Captain of North Patrol.
Easter retired from the department in 2012 and the same year was elected Sedgwick County Sheriff. After completing the New Sheriff Training at KLETC he took office on December 17, 2012. He supervises 568 employees.
In 2006 Sheriff Easter was a Wichita Business Journal 40 Under 40 recipient, and is also a graduate of Leadership Wichita. In 2007 Sheriff Easter was the Wichita Metro Crime Commission’s Law Enforcement Association Officer of the year, and in 2019 was the Crime Commission’s Law Enforcement Professional of the Year.
Sheriff Easter serves on many boards including being the board chair for the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Coalition and the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. He also is a board member of the Ascension/Via Christi Board of Directors and the Exploited and Missing Children’s Unit.
